Testimonials

“On March 20th, 2018, the University of Colorado Boulder – Geoscience Department was pleased to host geologist David Allard to speak about his international business experience. David discussed several different oil and gas projects in various stages of discovery or development on both the technical aspects including risks and cultural aspects of working with the host country. The presentation was delivered well and concluded with a good discussion of the questions. Mr. Allard’s book presents a fascinating mixture of diverse exploration experiences, travel, life, business, culture, and play. Anyone interested in the oil and gas business or international travelers, will thoroughly enjoy reading the book for its multi-layered context. Because David worked both in technical and leadership roles in his career, he provides the reader with insightful perspectives on the many aspects of daily life in industry.  The book is an easy, entertaining read that flows quickly  and will enlighten anyone who reads it.  I strongly recommend it!! “

“On Friday January 12, 2018 the Denver International Petroleum Society was pleased to host author/geologist David Allard who spoke at our monthly meeting about his globe-trotting career as an International Petroleum Geologist and the cultural and professional adventures and challenges he faced in pursuit of oil. David’s experiences in Turkey, Guatemala, Egypt, China, Scotland and former Soviet Republics ranged from dangerous to merely unusual, and he conveyed these to our members with wit and ample illustration. Mr. Allard also delved a bit into the technical details of his work abroad as this audience was composed of industry professionals. After the presentation he indulged us with a book signing and ample opportunity to answer our questions. It was a very enjoyable presentation, full of anecdotes and interesting observations. We greatly appreciate his agreeing to present “A World of Culture, Oil and Golf to the DIPS.”

“We hosted a evening social for customers and associates at a Denver restaurant in October, 2017 and were pleased to have David Allard give a presentation and talk about his book, ‘A World of Culture, Oil, and Golf’. Dave told several very entertaining stories about his life experiences of traveling the globe in search of oil plus demonstrated a strong technical understanding of the business. He provides an interesting insight into the oil industry and the challenges faced to explore the world for energy. The standing room only crowd was very entertained and engaged in the conversation with questions and comments about Dave’s worldly adventures. We enjoyed having this opportunity to host Mr. Allard and everyone in attendance laughed along with the stories and had a fun evening.”
